Kinesio Taping®
what is kinesio taping®?
The Kinesio Taping® Method is designed to work with the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It is used to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and medical conditions.
Kinesio® Tex Tape can be applied in hundreds of ways utilizing just a single strip or a combination of strips. The direction and amount of stretch placed on the tape at time of application helps to re-educate the neuromuscular system, reduce pain and inflammation, prevent injury, promote good circulation and healing.
who uses kinesio®?
Kinesio® Tex Tape and the Kinesio Taping® Method has been seen in use during numerous Olympic Games. You may have also seen it in use during many collegiate and professional sporting events worldwide. The Kinesio Taping Association International (KTAI) lists one half of all the NFL teams, two-thirds of all MLB teams and one-third of all NBA teams use Kinesio® Tex Tape and the Kinesio Taping® Method.
how does kinesio taping® work?
The Kinesio Taping® Method is designed to facilitate the natural healing process and to provide extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Kinesio® Tex Tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric. The tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for decreased inflammation. In some cases, the treatment of a condition may require treatment of other underlying conditions as well. The information I get from you during our initial meeting along with a functional assessment and muscle testing will allow for the proper treatment protocol to be laid out. Kinesio® Tex Tape is a valuable part of this protocol. It can be used in conjunction with a multitude of other treatments that I may employ to treat your condition or injury and is effective during the rehabilitative and chronic phases of an injury as well as being used for preventative measures.
what makes me qualified to treat with kinesio tape® and the kinesio taping method®?
I am qualified to treat you because I have earned the designation of CKTP®. The letters CKTP® stand for Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner®. In order to obtain my CKTP® certification I had to take a minimum of 24 class hours and demonstrate clinical proficiency throughout. I received additional advanced training to treat complex injuries and conditions. Only a CKTP® who has received this additional training has the skill set to tape for complex injuries and conditions. And I had to pass a written exam administered by the Kinesio Taping Association International (KTAI).
The Kinesio Taping® Association International takes this designation very seriously as do I. In earning and maintaining my CKTP® status I am making a commitment to you to maintain the highest standards of care and treatment of your injury or condition.
